Michalyn Easter-Thomas is a public school educator, community advocate, and currently serves as the Memphis City Councilwoman for District 7. As the youngest African American to be elected to the Memphis City Council, Michalyn is proud to work alongside her colleagues to make Memphis a more equitable place to live. Her current push for equity focuses on economic access, housing development, and the support of youth initiatives in the city and public education.
Michalyn is also an Instructional Facilitator within Shelby County Schools. She supports educators daily with strategized transformations that enhance classroom efficiency and encourage instructors to continue in their educational careers. Michalyn is passionate about the civic engagement of youth and supports various initiatives in the Memphis area. Michalyn has received the awards of Memphis Business Journal’s Top 40 Under 40 2020, Memphis Flyer’s Top 20 Under 30 Class of 2017 and Tri-State Defender’s Women of Excellence 2015. |
