Julio SalazarAssociate Director of Programming and Partnerships
As the Associate Director of Program Development and Partnerships, Julio Salazar will be involved in all of TECA's work and mission, particularly around the Fellowships and emerging partnerships. Julio comes to TECA after two years at the Tennessee State Collaborative on Reforming Education (SCORE) where he refined and expanded his work in education advocacy. Julio's background runs deep with Tennessee education experience - a graduate of Hamblen County Schools - he received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame where he minored in Education, Schooling, and Society. Afterwards, Julio attended Vanderbilt University and received his Master's of Education in Elementary Teaching through Peabody College while student teaching in MNPS. Julio chose to work at TECA after experiencing difficulties as a male educator and a person of color in schools and is hoping to create better experiences and opportunities for current and future educators in Tennessee. He is especially passionate about recruiting and retaining men for the classroom and empowering all Latinx teachers and education leaders.
