Amber Tyus is the Director of Talent Acquisition with Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools focused on identifying quality talent to meet student needs in all areas. Amber believes that student success is predicated not only on the recruitment and retention of high-quality teachers but by the assurance of educational equity in the classroom. Amber has served as a substitute, human capital partner, and as a staffing specialist during her nearly 20-year tenure with MNPS. In her current work, she partners with education preparation providers, assists with the teacher residency model, supervises substitute services, collaborates on student teaching needs, and manages recruitment. Amber has presented on Recruitment and Retention at the Greater Nashville Alliance of Black School Educators Conference and at the Tennessee Education Association Minority Affairs Statewide Conference. Amber is a proud alum of an MNPS high school. Amber earned a bachelor’s degree from Fisk University and a master’s in counseling from Trevecca Nazarene University. When she is not working, Amber is enjoying quality time with her family and venturing to new places.
