Alicia HerreraAlicia Herrera moved to Nashville from Dallas, Texas in 2013 where she was born and raised. She studied Elementary Education and business administration at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio Texas. After teaching math and science for 15 years, she sought a school with a unique approach and purpose. This led her to Warner Arts Magnet School. Now in her sixteenth year of teaching, Alicia motivates scholars through intentional learning experiences, positive guidance, encouragement, and feedback. Last year, her scholars achieved a TVAAS growth score of 14.9, among the highest in the state for 6th-grade math. In addition, Alicia was selected as a MOSAIC Changemaker Fellow, TN SCORE Fellow, and serves on the Conexión Américas Young Professionals Board of Ambassadors. Alicia is currently pursuing her doctorate in educational equity and leadership at Tennessee State University. In her free time, Alicia likes to travel, read, play soccer, camp and run ultra-marathons. She is currently training for a 100-mile race.
