TRAINING

Training is critical to the effectiveness of our organization.  A training session is scheduled for each monthly meeting and weekly net.  We are privileged to have several associates who work professionally with Public Service organizations.  They frequently provide TNECA volunteers with exceptional training and are able to share actual experiences with us.  In addition, exercises are conducted throughout the year to reinforce the training as well as provide an opportunity to identify deficiencies.

As an example: Roane County takes Emergency Communications very seriously.  Its DEC (Division of Emergency Communications) conducts training on a regular basis and works hard to cover all relevant topics.  The volunteers are trained to proficiently operate all of the radio equipment in the EOC.  This includes the public service radios.  In a recent session, Bill Farnham provided "hands-on" training for one of the more frequently used radios.  The objective of all of his training is to maintain a high level of readiness.
