Tennessee Emergency Communications Association

TRAINING

In support of the Upper Cumberland Airport, and the Emergency Management offices for White and Putnam counties, several volunteers from TNECA participated in a full scale exercise which simulated a plane crash with multiple victims.  All public service agencies from White and Putnam Counties supported the event.  The Red Cross did an excellent job of preparing victims and responding to other needed functions in a very professional manner.   This exercise was designed to prepare all responders for the Air Show which took place on September 19, 2009.  For those who were not able to participate in the actual exercise a Power Point presentation was given at the recent TNECA meeting as well as the Division of Emergency Communications meeting in Roane County.   Again, this training was designed to prepare a significant number of EmComm personnel to not only serve at the Air Show but to be better prepared to support the public service agencies for any future event.  Licensed volunteers from 4 counties supported this event.

OUR 2009 full scale emergency exercise was a joint effort between TEMA, SBDRO, BERT, MARS and TNECA.  The main deployment location was at the state Fire AND CODES ENFORCEMENT ACADEMY near bellbuckle, tn

The recent HAZMAT incident on I-40 is an example of just how fast emergencies can happen

and require the opening of shelters.  We will be working very closely with the Red Cross in an

effort to provide timely and quality communications whenever shelters are opened.

First Aid and CPR training is important for all of us.  These courses are now available

"On-Line" and can be completed at on your own schedule and at your own pace.
