Monthly Meetings
TNECA normally meets the third Thursday of each month, beginning at 7:00 PM (Central Time), at the Hilltoppers Building near the Crossville Center Mall. Training programs are included at each of the monthly meetings. The meetings are open to anyone with a sincere interest in public service and the desire to provide Emergency Communications.
TNECA is now developing goals for the next year, 2 year and 5 year periods. Many other organizations around the state will be actively involved with us in the planning process. There are exciting times ahead as we evolve toward the next major step in our journey in Public Service.
During a recent meeting we reviewed the scope, schedule, goals, scenario, and statistics concerning the TNECA/MARS/TEMA deployment exercise. This exercise was a great success and everyone who participated did an excellent job. Other similar exercises have taken place since and more are being planned. Working together with our served agencies and providing a variety of well planned training has added new dimensions to advancing our level of preparedness.
We began a series of "refresher" workshop sessions designed to strengthen our knowledge of the Incident Command System and National Incident Management System. The key principles will be included in all future exercises. NIMS compliance is mandatory for all TNECA volunteers.
We have also covered the Who, What, When, Where and Why of Winlink 2000 (WL2K). The WL2K network has become the national standard for EmCom digital traffic. Several of our volunteers are already quite proficient using this service while others are in the process of installing the necessary equipment.
To be USEFUL, we MUST be
READY. |
